Despite the recent bomb attacks in Mumbai, two of which targeted its diamond district in Opera House and Zaveri Bazaar, the Israeli Diamond Industry is positive about showing a strong presence at the forthcoming India International Jewelry Show (IIJS) in Mumbai and thus committed to furthering ties with their Indian counterparts. The IIJs is slated between August 4 – 8, 2011.

The IDI has been a participant at the IIJS for the past three years, The fact that it will be a participant this fourth consecutive year underlines its interest in the Indian gem and jewellery community. IDI Chairman Moti Ganz outlined similarities of business outlook, culture and values between the two countries saying “Israel and India can complement each other in both manufacturing and trading and we are dedicated to intensifying our business ties,” he said.

The Israel Diamond Pavilion, organized by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI), will include eight Israeli companies, although there is a long wait list of companies wanting to participate but restrained due to space limitations. The exhibiting companies include: AG Diamond Direct Ltd., Hausman Diamond Manufacturers, Julius Klein – Eliaz Diamonds, Niru Diamonds, Schachter & Namdar Asia and Shlomo Bichachi Diamonds Ltd. and Sorum Diamonds.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said that IDI plans to open a representative office in the Bharat Diamond Exchange during the year, citing it as “an important factor in promoting these business ties.” The IIJS Israel Diamond Pavilion can be viewed at: http://www.israelidiamond.co.il/Exhibition/map.aspx. As in previous years IDI will have an image booth within the pavilion at 1B033, which will provide information about the Israeli Diamond Industry and the advantages of doing business with Israel, and will register industry members for the Israeli Diamond Industry Portal site and on-line data base.
