ICA announces new Board members

On the last day of the ICA Congress, which took place in Panyu, China, the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) appointed its 2009-2011 Board of Directors, and the new President of the Board - Wilson Yuen of Able Lapidary & Jewelry Ltd., from Hong Kong. The ICA Board of Directors is formed of members from every major gemstone producing and consuming countries in the world, creating a distinct mix of expertise and knowledge.

Yuen announced the names of his executive Board during the ICA General Assembly in Panyu, with Vice Presidents as Jean Claude Michelou of Colombia and Charles Abouchar of Switzerland. Michael Haag of Germany was appointed as Treasurer, while Benjamin Hackman of the US and Clement Sabbagh from Brazil were appointed as Secretaries. Campbell Bridges, the legendary tsavorite miner from Kenya, was elected to the new Board along with Sushil Goyal of the US, Nobuyuki Horiuchi from Japan, and Phuket Khunaprapakorn from Thailand.

Yuen has been an ICA Board member for four years and has chaired the ICA China Task Force prior to his election. Yuen stated, "I am extremely pleased with the composition of the new Board; we have many dedicated industry professionals who are willing to work on behalf of ICA and the coloured gemstone industry. Each of them brings a unique perspective to the ICA for setting our goals and defining our strategies over the next two years."
