Hong Kong's retail sales in March increased by 3.1 per cent Y-O-Y to HK$35.7 billion, says the Census and Statistics Department report.
The report further mentioned that in the first quarter, provisionally estimated retail sales dropped by 1.3 per cent compared with the same period of last year.
Sales of motor vehicles and parts showed the highest grwoth at 16 per cent in March while sales of electrical goods and photographic equipment fared the worst, dropping by 17.9 per cent, added report.
Sales of furniture and fixtures; footwear, allied products and other clothing accessories; and optical shops dropped.
Sales of jewellery, watches and clocks, and valuable gifts increased by 8.4 per cent.
