The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) plans to expand and strengthen relations between India’s gem and jewellery companies with their American counterparts. For this it has outlined a series of networking and business opportunities with its new three-year multi-level business development campaign focused on the U.S., Canadian and South American markets.

A seried of in-depth Business Development Conferences (BDCs) are planned initially, where GJEPC-India and its colleagues in the Americas will meet in person to discuss and network. The groups will work on developing “best practices” for the rapidly changing business environment, indulge in face-to-face meetings and social events to nurturing vendor/client relations. The Council also plans to sponsor additional activities to support this work as the campaign goes forward.

GJEPC – India Chairman Vipul Shah mentioned, “We know that the U.S., Canadian and South American markets are uniquely important to our Indian gem and jewelry industry. India is one of the leading and preferred importing and sourcing destination for these regions when it comes to gem and jewellery We look forward to meeting our colleagues from the Americas face-to-face to talk about all aspects of the gem and jewelry trade and how we can better work together to the greater success of all.”

The first business development meeting in phase one will be a four-day event called the “2014 Indo/U.S. Business Development Conference” (BDC), to be held in Chicago, Illinois between September 5-8, 2014, according to Shah. He further said, “For us, this is a significant outreach program to the Western Hemisphere”,

India’s gem and jewellery exports to USA stood at US$ 4.79 bn in 2013 as compared to US$ 4.03 bn in 2012, rising 11 percent (on y-o-y basis) in 2012 to 13 percent in 2013. The GJEPC Vice Chairman Pankaj Parekh noted that 15 manufacturers/exporters from India are expected to meet with 15 to 20 companies from North America participating at the Chicago event.

The GJEPC will be presenting the India Pavilion for the 11th consecutive year with around 65 top exporter members from the gem and jewellery at the ongoing JCK Las Vegas Show.
