GJEPC condemns attacks in Brussels

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India expressed its solidarity with the Belgium citizens especially the diamond industry of Belgium, who were at the receiving end of the terrorist attack. The Indian diamond industry is dismayed with the fact that the terrorist attacks yesterday in Brussels claimed many innocent lives and injured several people.

GJEPC Chairman Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya said “We are extremely shocked by the dastardly terrorist act at the airport of Belgium. We express our condolences to the excellent people of Belgium who were not only compassionate but also extremely accommodative which has been felt by us, the Indian Diamond community, over several decades. At this time of anguish, we stand with the fellow citizens and diamond community of Belgium.”

Belgium is one of the largest diamond trading hubs in the world. A huge diaspora of Indian diamond fraternity is settled in Belgium and operates out of their offices based there. We are happy to note that the diamond community at Belgium is safe and hope that everyone in the community continues to remain safe and sound.
