GILC - a gemstone conference slated during HK Fair

A session of the Gemstone Industry & Laboratory Conference (GILC) will be held on September 19th at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) during the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. This by-invitation event will include presentations by noted speakers: Preecha Pongcharoenkul – Executive Advisor to Thailand's Deputy Minister of Commerce will talk on Thailand's Colored Stone Grading & Pricing Strategy, Gems Bank; Christopher Smith – American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) will present Update on Lead-Glass Filled Ruby; Dr. Pornsawat Wathankul – Gem & Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) will speak on Colored Stone, Essential tools for Gem Investors and Jean Claude Michelou – ICA Vice President will make a presentation on an Update on Ethical Mining and Fair Trade.

The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) has been organising the GILC since a decade, as a platform where its participants including gemstone traders, laboratory experts, jewelry manufacturers and major retailers active in the international gemstone community, discuss relevant industry issues and propose solutions. Issues addressed in the meetings are then followed up by GILC Committees who report on their findings and decisions.
