First India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo opens in Surat

The debut edition of the first gem and jewellery machinery expo ever organized in India, unfolded in Surat. The platform entitled India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) is being organized by the GJEPC in affiliation with the Surat Diamond Association (SDA) and is slated between 13 - 15 December’2013. It was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Mines & Tourism, Government of Gujarat, Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC and Mr. Dinesh Navadiya, President, Surat Diamond Association (SDA) along with other dignitaries.

Speaking about the expo, Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC said, “This show is conceived with the objective of engaging the industry with the recent technological advances made in the Gem & Jewellery sector. Although the machinery section has always been a significant part of the IIJS Exhibition held each year, the IGJME is being organized with the view to significantly expand the presence of prominent machinery manufacturers of India and the world and more importantly, present the rapid technological advancements that are being made in this part of the industry sector.”

The show will see participation from renowned names in the business including Gallorini, Italimtianti Orafi, Schultheiss, Rio Grande, Pandora, Leach Garner, Sisma Spa, Safimet Spa Italy, HRD, Milano, Lexus, Eve (Germany), besides Nickunj, Sahjanand, Professional ®, Gesswein, Wilmor, Eagle, Vapson from India, amongst other leading names from the country and abroad. This debut edition has been promoted across 50-60 towns and cities in the country and is expected to attract 2,000 decision makers. Members of GJEPC, SDA, jewellery manufacturers from key centres such as Surat, Rajkot, Mumbai, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Cochin, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi, senior business heads and key production and technical members of the industry, large retailers, international participation from Turkey, Israel, and Italy amongst others is expected at the show.

At the inauguration, Chief Guest Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Mines & Tourism Government of Gujarat congratulated the GJEPC and SDA for their initiative. India has earned its repute globally as a key manufacturer of diamonds, gems and jewellery. Mr. Dinesh Navadiya, President, Surat Diamond Association (SDA) said, “The aim of this exhibition is to have the SME sector manufactures come and meet the participants as this will help them improve the quality of production. SME manufacturers benefit the most from this exhibition since they become more aware of looking at the market availability, cost, how to improve the quality of their products and how to derive the best output from raw materials.”
