DIJW 2015: Consumers prefer classic designs

Consumers retained their preference for classic, timeless designs for jewellery set with diamonds and precious stones like rubies, emeralds and sapphires

The recently concluded Dubai International Jewellery Week witnessed a large number of visitors from across the region from December 9 to 12 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. However, the concluding note from the organisers reveals that the patrons still went for classic designs. 

It was not only in diamond segment that consumers wanted classics but also in gold jewellery, it was the same story. The 20th edition of the show, considered to be the region’s most prestigious jewellery event, saw more than 300 exhibitors from 25 countries, exhibiting a range of collections.  These included traditional bridal jewellery with uncut diamonds set in gold from Indian jewellery manufacturers to jewellery fashioned with pearls, rubies, emeralds and diamonds in elegant styles by jewellers from across the world. 

There were around 140,000 pieces of jewellery on offer, and about 50,000 designs were featured for the first time in Dubai.  This year the show was re-launched to focus on the consumer.   Also, on display at the show were the winning designs of the Jewellery Design Awards, now in its seventh year and part of the Dubai International Jewellery Week.
