Christie’s Geneva Luxury Auctions Achieves $98,157,500

The Christie’s Geneva May series of sales achieved a combined total of CHF98,153,210 / $98,157,500, attracting over 2,500 visitors to the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. The three sales had registered bidders from 57 number of countries and of the total registrants 20 per cent were new to Christie’s. Magnificent Jewels auction concluded the series of sales, featuring a selection of exceptional items, with 16 lots selling over 1 million and the total sale achieving CHF81,620,500/ $81,620,500.

Leading the sale was a superb D-Colour diamond ring of 50.47 carats, by Harry Winston, which sold for CHF6,500,000 / $6,500,000. Further highlights included: a spectacular fancy vivid yellow diamond ring of 20.49 carats, achieving a near record price per carat for a total of CHF5,487,500 / $5,587,500, a fancy intense purplish pink diamond ring of 8.52 carats selling for CHF6,275,000 / $6,275,000 and an important late 19th century emerald and diamond necklace, by Tiffany & Co., circa 1880, which was originally sold at Christie’s New York, over 20 years ago and today realised CHF1,572,500/ $1,572,500.
