Baselworld 2017 upscales exhibitor and visitor interest with its new Design lab

Baselworld 2017, currently underway has introduced a ‘Design Lab’ to provide visitors an incomparable platform for successful designers and up-and-coming brands. Baselworld has been reputed to be the showcase ground for new newest trendsetting creations and innovations from the international watch and jewellery industry.

Renowned as the premier event for the world’s watch and jewellery industry, each year, Baselworld magically attracts the crème de la crème of this multi-faceted jewellery and watch industry.

For the first time, a special area is dedicated exclusively to well-known designers and promising brands: the ‘Design Lab’ is simultaneously also a strong sign showing the ongoing growth of the show’s competence in jewellery.

“Many rising talent designers and brands with unconventional ideas are active in this branch of industry. The ‘Design Lab’ concept provides them with the ideal platform to be perceived in the most publicly effective manner. Our artists experiment as one would in a laboratory, so the name ‘Design Lab’ instantly suggested itself”, explains Baselworld’s Managing Director Sylvie Ritter.

The Design Lab is located in a highly frequented area (Hall 1.1), approximately 30 selected participants present themselves and their special jewellery concepts to the show’s international visitors. The exhibitors here include design icons such as Georg Spreng and Marcin Zaremski, newcomers such as Christina Rasmussen and Liliana Guerreiro, as well as up-and-coming brands such as Setare and Capolavoro.

“The ‘Design Lab’ is a gigantic opportunity to also present our creations to an international audience. We look forward to Baselworld and to the encounters we’ll experience there”, says Capolavoro owner’s Gerhard Fritsch. The ‘Design Lab’ offers apt surroundings for visitors and exhibitors to network.
