Antwerp imported most of its rough diamond sin the month from United Arab Emirates and also recorded a rise in its rough diamond imports from Canada.
The polished diamond trade figures were low , which is being attributed to markets being under pressure. Overall, polished diamond imports declined, by 7.55 percent in volume and 7.18 percent in value. There was a drop in exports to key diamond centres like Hong Kong and Israel. The US received more stones although within the less expensive category. These export developments are reflected in an overall 16.34 percent decline in volume terms and 8.29 percent in value. The polished diamond exports to Switzerland and Italy, depicted a fair picture of the European market doing well, as per AWDC.
