Angola’s rough diamond production in the year stood at 7.2 million carats (8.394 million carats in 2015), as per Minister of Geology and Mining of Angola, Francisco Queirós, reports add.
The production contributed was by Catoca Mining Society, comprising Empresa Nacional de Angola Diamonds (Endiama), Alrosa (Russia), LLV (China) and Odebrecht (Brazil), which lent to 75 percent of the rough production, while artisinal production saw a 60 percent drop, reports add. The average price per carat declined from US$ 145 in October to US$ 116.9 in November, reports say. The minister opined there is a strong sustainable performance in the diamond sub-sector and presents a positive outlook for sustainable recovery ahead, reports add.
