ALROSA helps 32 seriously ill children see football stars

ALROSA, the world's largest diamond mining company, helped 32 children with serious diseases to see their dreams come true and get to the matches of the FIFA World Cup 2018™. Russian charity funds operating in different regions of Russia assisted the company.

To implement this idea, ALROSA selected as its partner Podari Zhizn charity fund (Gift of Life), which together with regional charity organizations helped to turn it into reality.

As a result, the championship's matches were attended by the children under care of the Charitable Fund "Children of Russia", Nizhny Novgorod Cancer Research Center, Samara regional public organization of assistance to children suffering from hematological diseases "Victoria", Angela Vavilova Foundation (Kazan), Charitable Foundation AdVita (Saint Petersburg) and Charity Fund of assistance to children with oncohematological diseases "Darina" (Rostov-on-Don).

Representatives of the funds helped to find children in the regions, who interested in football and whose health conditions would allow them to attend the stadium. Close people - their parents or relatives, accompanied most of the children, especially younger ones. It was important for children to share positive emotions with close people, and for adults to monitor safety and health of the little fans. The youngest of them, by the way, is only 9 years old.

ALROSA, for its part, assisted not only in providing tickets, but also in promptly sending them to the host cities, in issuing FAN IDs and in solving other organizational issues.

Together with their relatives, the children attended the group and play-off matches in Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Saransk, Sochi and Volgograd. Overall, 58 people including accompanying persons attended the matches.

"We made a decision to share this football festival with those who need it the most. The children of charity funds represent courage and faith in their own strength. We are grateful to these children for showing us by their example how to enjoy the life and not give up under any circumstances. Their smiles are an invaluable gift for us, and I am very glad that we were able to give them this experience," said Sergey Ivanov, CEO of ALROSA.

"For the children of our fund, who underwent serious long-term cancer treatment, the opportunity to get to the main sport event of the year is not just positive emotions, but it is also an important social and psychological rehabilitation. We are grateful to ALROSA for presenting such an opportunity to our children," said Ekaterina Shergova, Director of the fund "Podari Zhizn."
