AGS to host Lab classes along with GIA

The American Gem Society is organising two Lab classes at its Las Vegas headquarters in co-ordination with Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The course deliverables include hands-on experience with diamonds and gemstones, and a financial assistance of an almost 90 percent discount to qualifying candidates. The sessions will be instructed by the GIA team.

A Diamond Grading Lab will be held September 8-12, which is a prerequisite to hold AGS titles of Registered Jeweler, Registered Supplier, and Certified Gemologist apart from multiple GIA diplomas. The second Lab class - GIA’s Colored Stone Grading Lab will follow on September 15-17, which is a prerequisite for GIA’s Graduate Gemologist diploma and the American Gem Society’s Certified Gemologist title.

“We’re always happy to host classes taught by our friends at GIA,” said Ruth Batson, executive director and CEO of the Society. “And this fall, we’re especially pleased to offer outstanding financial assistance that will help future titleholders of the American Gem Society move closer to their educational and professional goals.”

The sessions are open for both AGS members and non-members. Some students working toward American Gem Society titles will be able to take the Diamond Grading Lab class.
