A De Beers delegation visits ISDE

The purpose was to meet with Israeli industry leaders and local clients, and gain deeper understanding with the market

A delegation of executives from De Beers and headed by CEO, Bruce Cleaver, visited and interacted with the leadership of the Israeli Diamond Exchange (ISDE) leadership to receive updates on Exchange activities and to better acquaint themselves with the clients in Israel. The purpose of the visit was to meet with Israeli industry leaders and local clients, as well as deepen the familiarity with the market activity in Israel, it being the most significant diamond industry and trade center on the globe.

The ISDE President, Yoram Dvash; President of The Israel Diamond Manufacturers’ Association, Kobi Koren; Chairman of the Israeli Diamond Institute, Shmuel Schnitzer; Acting President of the IDE, Yehezkel Blum; CEO of the IDE, Eli Avidar, and executive managers Shai Schnitzer and Meir Delumi attended the meeting.

Meeting participants discussed the state of raw and processed diamonds worldwide, and prices versus market conditions. The ISDE management presented relevant updates on various projects, like the permit received from the Ramat-Gan municipal authorities to build the large rock processing factory in the Maccabi building, as well as a future construction project, due to add an additional 250,000 square meters to the Diamond Exchange compound. Also, ISDE consultants presented the delegation with the ISDE innovation center currently being established, and discussed the possibility of including international players in the diamond industry as partners in the center, alongside the Israeli government, through the Israeli Innovation Authority, reports add.
