The 6th International Diamond Week in Israel (IDWI) concluded on a positive note for the buyers and exhibitors, as per reports. Also, the event was underlined with significant milestones and steps taken for the Israel diamond industry to see it gain more strength.

Alrosa President Andrei Zharkov, who as a guest of honor at the IDWI, held a meeting attended by leaders and dignitaries of the IDE and the industry. He spoke of Alrosa’s interest ‘in supporting different major diamond hubs in the world such as the Israeli diamond bourse’, and cited the importance of the 2015 MOU between Alrosa and IDE to share information and cooperate on issues of mutual interest among other subjects.

On the second day of IDWI, the IDE opened the new International Tender Center, established by the bourse to bring together maximum polished and rough diamond tenders under one roof. Also, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the young generation forums of the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association (HKJMA) and the IDE to promote business and cooperation.

Jean-Marc Lieberherr, CEO of the Diamond Producers’ Association (DPA), spoke of activities of the DPA, noting an increase in its marketing budget in the US for 2017, a new campaign launch in the US in September and having secured the only Oscars commercial spot for the diamond industry this year (February 26).

Other segments of the IDWI encouraged networking at leisure with a festive cocktail reception at the Leonardo City Tower Hotel and a free trip across Jerusalem. The IDWI schedule this year was a little different to accommodate buyers’ preferences, as such visitors conducted trade at the main Trading Hall at the bourse and personal meetings took place at the IDE.
